Trump Asks 'Why No Action?' Amid Questions About Obama's Response To Russian Meddling

President Trump took to Twitter to question his predecessor's judgment and actions — at the end of a week characterized by a steady drumbeat of questions about how and when the Obama administration chose to respond to Russian interference in the 2016 election.

  • Yes, he should be put in jail!

  • @joecavalry, agree that he didn't do enough. I wouldn't put him to jail though
  • I think he should have done more, but I also believe that if he'd done more Trump would have complained that he was politicising the issue to try and bias the election in Hilary's favour.

@AlwaysCorrect , I respectfully delineate to agree with the argument you provided.

If this whole Democrat led investigation, which by the way, head democrats are now against Obama's interference or none of it, would have not occurred, Trump's agenda would have been faster gained and also done.

Obama should have done more, but he couldn't.  It would have highlighted how vulnerable systems are to foreign states, which would have brought even more attention to the illegal home server Hillary was using to conduct official business.  Since the DNC had preordained Hillary to be the next POTUS candidate, Obama couldn't risk A ) hurting her chances in the election and B ) more importantly, undermining her legitimacy once she took office (exactly as they're trying to do to Trump).  Remember, all the polls at the time said Hillary was going to win in a landslide.

  • @CYDdharta, great argument.  I also think that he couldn't highlight Hilary email issue too much.   To @joecavalry
point, Not sure if Obama going to jail is reasonable, but Hilary that's more like it.
  • Yes, Obama decided to surprisingly not get involved although he may have knew that this was aimed against Clinton who was representing the Democartic party like him. Also, CNN is fake news, Trump was right all along.

  • He is a president, he is not a king. It is not his responsibility to deal with the individual breaches of national security; there are governmental organizations there specifically charged with doing just that. As the director of the executive branch, the president can take certain global actions against the forces found to be breaching the national security - but it is hard to say what Obama could reasonably do at that point that had not already been done by the sanctions his administration introduced in 2014.

Cybersecurity is a very complicated subject. It is hard enough to resist attacks of individual crackers; stopping an attack from an entire foreign government that is renown for having some of the best crackers employed by a state anywhere in the world is near impossible. Especially when individual state employees and high-ranked party members are so negligent, that their login password often is literally "password". There is nothing Obama, Trump or anyone else can do about such local carelessness.

  • ????? Trump is the one who made the deal with the Russians.

  • If Trump was involved in soliciting help from the Russians it would have surfaced and have been leaked to the media already.  Remeber CNN was caught on tape saying Russia collusion was a big "Nothing Burger" Van Jones: Trump became President in that moment

  • @with_all_humility Do you think that a 'leaking about a non-leak' isn't itself staged? :)
  • @someone234 that is some of the worst logic I've ever seen. That means nothing can ever change. That exact argument can be applied in any legal case. Well there can't have been pedophiles and rapists in Hollywood for so long, we would have heard something about it by now. Look into it more people have been talking about Trump ties to Russia ever since his casino went under, it was just harder to find reports on it because who cares about a businessman's shady dealings with foreigners, all businesses do it, however not all heads of those businesses become president, that's why to many it seems like this came out of nowhere. The main stream media is terrible at reporting on this in any coherent way, they just go for emotion. I will see CNN report on something with this big headline but it's a small part of a bigger story I had read on McClatchy a year earlier! Nothing has come out yet because the investigation is still on going, things take time and this investigation has already turned up many indictments, you can't deny it is doing something positive and successfully
  • @WordsMatter I don't argue to impress you. If it's the worst you've seen shut up and look elsewhere you conceited troll
  • @someone234 wow totally @ the wrong person. That post wasn't for you it was for @with_all_humility
  • Obama should have done something.
