Star Trek Discovery series won't take off
in TV SHOWS

a brand new Star Trek series, Discovery, just launched on CBS.  It takes place 10 yeas before Kirk, taking us right to the beginning of escalating conflict with klignons. 
Interesting plot, grear geaphics, but....it will not take off IMHO.  1) you have to sign up for CBS premium access to stream the show, paying a monthly fee?
2) The characters seem strange and it takes awhile for us to get attached to the new crew. Star Trek fans already have their favorites.
