    It is a general misconception, to infer that that Luddites rejected technology.

    Luddites were simply protesters who feared their livelihoods were under threat. 

    A consequence of their protests, was damage to weaving machinery.

    The development of  the steam locomotive was well under way at this time, 

    There was no Luddite rejection of this technology.
