I am a minarchist (minimal government), and I think churches should be beacens of light spreading the gospel, not the government. Hard working people have the right to their wallet. In some extreme cases, I would support government aid, but not as a bandaid to avoid work. I am looking to work right now, in case you were wondering. Also, minarchists give to charity all the time. I will when I get paid. I am a woman of my word.

You are wrong because these don't need to be mutually exclusive. It's in the public interest for the government to aid the poor. In my view that said needs to come in the form of investing in the public schools in poor communities and job training programs. Don't just give money to them. If you invest in their education or job training then they are more likely to move on to better careers, thus making more money, and then paying back the money that was spent on them and more through the taxes they will pay on this job. Whereas religious organizations should help the poor by providing things like clothes food and shelter.
