  • Only if they go as fast as possible to beat the transatlantic crossing record, otherwise why even bother?

  • The first Titanic hit an iceberg at the time when even the echolocation technology was barely more than a raw prototype. Nowadays, every ship is equipped with countless GPS gadgets, collision prevention systems working in multiple parts of the spectrum, fully automatic course correction systems and so on. It is likely that the crew of the new Titanic will have to try very hard to make it collide with an iceberg despite all the safety systems.

I have never been on a cruise in my life, although I have always wanted to try. Titanic II will probably feature very expensive tickets, plus the cross-Atlantic direction is not particularly interesting to me - but if a ship like this did a trip somewhere in Oceania, and the cruise was affordable, then I would be game.
