"On "The Five" Friday, Jedediah Bila said Democrats who oppose funding President Trump's border wall should take a minute and think about what they are really opposing.
She took particular issue with comments from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who spoke on the Senate floor Friday just hours before an impending partial government shutdown.
"President Trump, you will not get your wall. Abandon your shutdown strategy," Schumer said. "You’re not getting the wall today, next week or on January 3rd when Democrats take control of the House."
"As if the wall is for President Trump. The wall is for the United States of America. It's for our national security, it's to address the humanitarian crisis at the border," Bila said. "This idea that he's not giving him the money to spite Trump. You're not spiting Trump, you're spiting American citizens and you're spiting all of those poor people who are being incentivized to come and cross this border under these horrific conditions."
She said it may sound good to Democrats to oppose the wall, but they should reflect on what that means for national security and the crisis at the southern border."
