Why is technology the problem, exactly?

Plus, what actually do you mean by "technology"? Is it just the internet or do you think new cars ruin common sense as well, for example?
  • If anything, technology forces us to use common sense more than ever. Life in the past was very simple, and people did not need to know a lot about the world in order to function - but nowadays, in the globalised age of communications, lack of wide and diverse knowledge and ability to reconcile its separate pieces with each other is a necessity in the life of a successful individual. And in order to obtain that, one must be a master of applying common sense.

You do not need much common sense to simply tend to your farm. You just need to pick up a book on farming, and in 5 hours of reading it you are ready to go.

You do need a lot of common sense to learn how to use Microsoft Excel, on the other hand. And people who do not know how to use Microsoft Excel and similar programs are a dying breed, at least, in the First World.

I think the OP means like SJWs... Due to Social Media, these SJWS can spread their ideology like wildfire is whta i think they're trying to say.

In that regard, hardly anything changed. It is true, Internet does provide a platform for malicious people to perpetuate their ideologies - but just as much it provides a platform for other people to counter those ideologies. Just as usual, in the end the ideology that appeals most to people wins. The Internet merely accelerates this process, but it hardly changes it.

There was no Internet 1000 years ago, yet there was little common sense in the world. People were fighting each other over petty religious disagreements all over the world, and kings robbed their people blind with their full consent. I would say we have gone a long way since then, thanks not the least to the technological evolution.

  • Generally, common sense is nothing more than one's subjective sense of how they see the world. Sense is anything that is common, and what may be common sense to one person may not be to another. Also, if you're always looking for common sense answers then you probably won't like quantum physics which basically defies all or almost all of common sense.

The unexamined thought is not worth thinking.

  • I think that technology has just created more types of “common sense.” For example, an Anti-Vaxxer such as @YeshuaBought would think that common sense would mean not taking “dangerous government controlled vaccines”, whereas the rest of us would think that she is absolutely nuts. Our commo sense would be that vaccines are helpful and therefore you should take them.

  • Yes technology is information in a second, but just because they have it doesn’t matter they may technology, but doesn’t mean that they are using this information in their fingers. They are on snap chat, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram Facebook tinder, which means they are having no social interaction with people face to face this is one reason they don’t have any social skills and this is exactly what they want at a flock of people who have no social skills an have been indoctrinated into the world imagination gathering websites it will ruin the social skills and no real experience in social skills just a flock lead by an algorithm they need to be children first and then they can move on to social media!
