This maybe a new set of dynamics for Trump's administration, as they really inherited this conflict from prior regime.  Already we see that China is trying to test Trump, pressuring them to give consessions.  
I believe that Trump will take a much stronger stand on issues than Obama administration, but he will ensure that the right deals are made to avoid regional or global wars.

There isn't a way for them to turn this into a regional war.  They can try to go north into China or Russia and be defeated, or they can try to go south into South Korea and be defeated.  This is nothing more than saber-rattling to test out the new administration.

Although unlikely for a regional war, impeachment in South Korea will put a lot more uncertainty to this situation and may escalate the regional conflict.
