Scarborough tells Colbert: 'I'm not going to be a Republican anymore'
in Politics

By agsragsr 851 Pts edited July 2017
Speaking alongside his co-host and fiance, Mika Brzezinski, who drew the ire of the president in a series of personal social media attacks, Scarborough questioned why more Republicans didn't stand up to Trump's comments and policies, casting them as standing in opposition to his party's values — or rather, his former party.

I will argue that Joe was pressured by Mika to make this switch now that they are engaged.  I don't think she left him much choice other than a space in the dog house :)

I agree with @joecavalry.  Sure, Mika put pressure on him, but it wasn't as strong as his network for keeping his good career prospects.

Arguments

  • No, I believe that the show requested for him to make the switch. Networks like these want an all democratic or most democratic cast, especially when it comes to hosts.

  • @joecavalry, I agree with you that it was an additional factor.  It was likely a combination of Mika, network pressure, and  maybe personal believes.

  • @CuriousGeorge and @joecavalry, great points. I still think though that Mika was a key reason in his decision. Can you just imagine how that pillow talk would go - "you let him insult me like that?".  I never underestimate role of women in many important life-changing decisions like that.
