Qatar Airways plane forced to land after wife discovers husband's affair midflight
in Technology

By agsragsr 851 Pts
In this bizarre story, a woman unlocks husbands phone with his thumb while he is sleeping on a flight and discovers he was having an affair.  She goes crazy and the family causes unscheduled landing.
Other than just being a weird story, the qustion I'd like to debate is false sense of security that the iphone thumb gives you.  Sure, it's conivinient, but...

    My argument is NO.
    1) can be unlocked without your knowledge while you are sleeping like in this example.

    2) In the Orange is the New Black Netflix sries last season, the prisoners sliced off his thumb to get access to his iPhone.. ouch.

password is much safer since you can change it periodically and it locks down of you emtered incorrectly many times.

I also think that Apple exposes themselves to a law suit if someone gains access to sensitive information by slicing off a thumb print.

I believe that IOS Touch ID is secure.

Your fingerprint is unique and it’s possibly extremely difficult to unlock Touch ID if you didn’t have that fingerprint.

It is very difficult to bypass a passcode, but so easy to bypass touch ID. If you are sleeping, someone can use your thumb without your knowledge to unlock your phone.

While much more convenient, this story demonstrates the risk of someone unknowingly using thumb print during sleep to unlock the device. Password is more secure from that perspective
