My understanding of the law is that it’s now perfectly fine to criticize religion but the law is about protection of believers .......On March 24, 2011, the UN Human Rights Council in a very significant move shifted from protecting beliefs to the protection of believers with the unanimous adoption without a vote of Resolution 16/18 introduced by Pakistan.


Religion like any belief system can and should be criticized that’s what freedom of speech is all about ,laws that try to shut down this freedom are imposed by cowardly governments who in the wake of the infamous Mohammed cartoons tripped over themselves not to offend over sensitive Muslims

Nothing should be protected from aggressive speech. Part of living in a free society is learning to cope with the fact that your deepest beliefs can and will be challenged by others, just as their deepest beliefs are regularly challenged by you.

Rowan Atkinson is absolutely on point in this regard, and his stand-ups parodying religion gave me quite a few laughs back in the day.

As we are slowly drifting towards the world in which every word and action is being harshly censored and regulated, it is essential to push back against such bills and try to reverse the trend consistently.
