I am conservative on education, please debate me, or change my mind.
in Politics

ASD stands for autism spectrum disorder. I would like to share a little of my alleged educational background. I am self taught. I don't want to be coddled by the education system and get grades for little to no work, I want to be put to work. I am sentient enough to give support when I am strong, and aware of the fact that I am not a Rhodes scholar. I don't want a free ride, and am quit insulted by liberal teachers who give easy grades. I want an honest education funded by my own labor. I believe in homeschooling when possible, and reject grading on a curve. I believe students have the right to graduate high school or get a GED for free, but they are not possessive of the right to a free college education. If it is not a right to life issue, you don't have the right to have it for free. Free privileges and charity to provide things like college should be handled by private chrities for high school students who have intellectual capabilities and work hard for the sweet things in life. I am personally offended when liberals treat me as a subhuman entity incapable of equal ability, value, and worth. I also call BS on the lie that conservatives all hate the poor. I am not a conservative, but I have some conservative beliefs, and just want to say something is wrong when both parties fail on education, but I side with President Trump on education. Aslo, why should I as a Christian be forced to fund things that conflict with my personal religious beliefs such as teaching evolution in schools. If I can't post the Ten Commandments on a courthouse, you will not accept my tax dollars to teach evolution in schools without a good legal and nonviolent protest. Get over it. But I want to hear what you think, and if I am proven wrong, I will turn heel and admit it. I believe in Jesus, Bible, Constitution, everything else is optional.

  • I am extremely in agreement with you but you don't realise that this is actually a liberal way of dealing with education since it revolves around freedom and flexibility.

Mainstream "Liberals" actually are on the Conservative side of education.
  • You have things backwards. "Conservative" refers to conserving the current system. If you do not like the current system and want it changed, then conservatism is out of the question.

School education will slowly die out, likely, and give way to more modern systems, based on autonomous online learning centers. People will pay for education packages and for discussion hours in groups of peers or with professors. There will be no "high school diplomas"; instead, there will be certificate attached to the online course one completed. The most reputable online courses taken will demonstrate a strong educational background, while a set of random courses from websites no one has heard of will be equal to having dropped from school.

Also, the educational courses sponsored by businesses will likely gain significantly more traction very soon. No longer will Google have to sort through thousands applicants to find who they need for a high manager position; instead, Google will offer individual-tuned paid courses, and those who have completed these courses with decent grades will be accepted on high-paid positions. The market will probably experience a violent segmentation as a result, as people focus on specialization on a narrow field in order to get employment at the selected few companies, rather than comprehensive education allowing one to work almost anywhere they would want. And there is nothing wrong with it; specialization and segmentation have to happen, in order to keep up with time.
  • @MayCaesar:

Where are you getting some of your perceptions from?

"School education will slowly die out, likely, and give way to more modern systems, based on autonomous online learning centers."

Are you referring to the public school system?

In a sense, are you maybe referring to "tele schooling" then, in the same sense that some tele work from home instead of working at work?

"People will pay for education packages and for discussion hours in groups of peers or with professors."

This section sounds like how some pay for their entertainment packages through their cable providers?

"There will be no "high school diplomas"; instead, there will be certificate attached to the online course one completed. The most reputable online courses taken will demonstrate a strong educational background, while a set of random courses from websites no one has heard of will be equal to having dropped from school."

And what internet website maybe has the above Information, on it's website?

  • @TTKDB ;

We are not quite there; the majority of the education is still stuck in the 19th century, and slow habits die slow. That said, there is already a lot of professional education programs online anyone can purchase, offered by such leading companies as Google or Microsoft. Currently they are very expensive, and the price can easily be over $30,000 - but as the industry grows, they are likely to become more and more popular and widespread, and their costs will decrease dramatically.

Online education is the future. It is more efficient, more customizable, more convenient, more functional, more in tune with the time we live in. The way children go through classes by sitting in a room and listening to the teacher is not very practical; it is an old model resulting from twisting the ideas of Ancient Greek philosophical schools, that has never been effective and is bound to disappear as more efficient and affordable options gain traction.

It is my prediction that 100 years from now, there will be no school education in the US - in the modern meaning of the word.
  • @someone234 LOL, really? :)

  • What about teaching evolution as a plausible theory instead of a fact? Many things taught in science are theories, and people have no problem with that, but for some reason teaching evolution is out of order.
  • @MayCaesar that's where the computer programming field is currently at. A traditional college degree isn't worth all that much. Instead crash courses that certify you online are just as effective. Or a person could just self teach then work on public projects and that is sufficient to get hired.
  • @WordsMatter

To be honest, the internet has really educated me better than school has. After you learn to read and write, the other things taught don't really help you as much, and can be taught through the internet. I learn more about history through YouTube videos like those by OverSimplified or Crash Course History, than school. The benefit of school however, is the social aspect. There is a large difference between socialising with your family during homeschool, than socialising with other kids/teens your age at school.
  • @Polaris95 You sound like you have a high intellect. What is your favorite subject?
Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

  • @Polaris95 I am okay with it being taught as a theory, but religious students should not be forced to agree with it for grades, because I value free thought.
Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

  • @YeshuaBought I shouldn't be forced to believe 2+2=4 for grades. I believe in free thought

  • @WordsMatter Teachers don't have the right to force religious students to believe in evolution. Religious liberty is a right.

@YeshuaBought no one is forcing them to believe in it. All they have to do is give the answers the teachers want to get the grade. That's how school works and not just in science. You get taught things in history class that aren't accurate but you just reproduce to get the grade. I went to Catholic School and had to take religion classes while I'm agnostic. I knew I could tell them what they wanted to hear to get my grades without having to actually believe in any of it. If you want to be difficult and flip out about learning something you don't buy into go for it, but it isn't going to make a difference. Just give them what they want, it doesn't force you to believe in the answers you give. It really isn't difficult.

  • @WordsMatter Yes they are. Religious students should not have to learn evolution when it VIOLATES their religious beliefs. That should always be optional.
Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

  • @YeshuaBought I had to learn about Christianity which violated my religious beliefs and it wasn't a problem whatsoever. What you are calling for if a safe space to be insulated from ideas you don't agree with.
    YeshuaRedeemed
  • @WordsMatter I have the Christian right to not violate my religious beliefs. Stop pushing your antichristian beliefs down my throat.
Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

  • @YeshuaBought quit pushing your Christian beliefs down mine?
    YeshuaRedeemed
  • @WordsMatter You are one my post. I will push anything I want on you, now adress what I said. I have the Christian right to not participate in an evolution program.
Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
