Religion is like an opinion. It does not necessarily corrupt a persons mind. Some people may see it as a corruption of the mind (mainly people that are apart of other religions).

Religion doesn't corrupt people, people corrupt people, and plenty of people have taken religion and self corrupted it, for their own selfish needs and purposes.

When some individuals have been found guilty of corruption via a crime, was the subject of religion itself found guilty, along with the corrupt individual?

I believe religion corrupts people when the devotion to a particular religion becomes ardent and extreme. Some religious people are self-righteous. These people insist on proving they’re right to an intransigent extent. On the other hand, some religious people are willing to listen to what other people have to say about religion, thus allowing themselves the freedom to investigate and think on the contrary to their religion. Even if you believe in a specific religion, you might not perceive it as solemn as somebody else who is immensely earnest about the faith to an unjustifiable extent. Therefore, I feel that religion corrupts those who are unreasonably stringent and devoted to the religion. When it begins to take over your cognitive thinking, mood, behavior, etc., you are corrupted by religion.

Any ideology that is not based on logic represents corruption of mind on some level. When one rejects logic, even to a small extent, and employs wishful thinking instead, then they are not in touch with the world they live in, and their mind will not operate based on real observable data - leading them to erroneous conclusions and subsequent actions.

Religion can have a positive influence on people - however, that positive influence is accidental. It is much like picking a random number from 1 to 9 and guessing that you picked 5 - sometimes you will be right. However, that does not make your method in itself reasonable. After all, one can win $500m in a lottery, but investing all earnings into lottery tickets based on that would be very wrong.

Religion can lead to right actions for wrong reasons. Sometimes it can even lead to better actions than logical approach would - but, again, for wrong reasons. And if the reasons are wrong, then one's entire world view is shaky, and even if it seems to be working really well right now, it has a large probability to backfire eventually.

Consider a person believing themselves invincible. That might work for them for a while: their confidence will make them into a very successful negotiator, with no fear, with a tremendous amount of energy and optimism. But then one day they will decide to jump off a skyscraper to get an unforgettable experience - and that one mistake will cancel out all the previous successes.
Religion is similar in this regard. Can it make a miserable person into a happy one sometimes? Absolutely. But the foundation is wrong, so chances are it will not last.

If religion is corrupt, then why not protest the religious building's in ones own neighborhood, and have the proper authorities go after the participants, or the pastor, minister, or preacher with a warrant or a group of warrants? 

For the crimes of corrupting the individuals who go to, and go inside a religious building peacefully and voluntarily, and come out after a religious service, and are acting in a peaceful manner? 

Why not go after the source (Religion) and charge religion with corruption; For corrupting the individual religious individuals, the religious parents? Or for corrupting the kids as well?

Why not file a lawsuit, and go after every peaceful religious building in the United States, and the singular reason behind the nationwide lawsuit is this?

Why not reach out to CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, or WHRO, and ask them to give those news media outlets the filers of that lawsuit some camera time, and get interviewed by the various news anchors of those nationwide news media outlets, and express to the news anchor and the camera operator while wearing a microphone, and expess that the reason behind the lawsuit is because, "Religion corrupts the mind of people." 

And take, and respond to the various questions that the news anchor might ask the filers of the lawsuit? 

Wouldn't it be educational to see how the rest of the country might react and respond to the interview?

@Oppolzer I agree. There are no better examples than the present VP and Sarah Huckabee.
I'm an atheist but I have no objection to anyone's belief as long as it doesn't hurt anyone, and, in this country, abides by the Constitution. (That means making no laws respecting a particular religion).
As far as corruption is concerned, I recommend "Religious Right, The Greatest Threat to Democracy" available from Amazon for less than $2. Written by a member who got sick OF the corruption AND the use of his/her religion TO corrupt.

About the Author

A.F.Alexander was one of those far right conservative Christians. A.F. Alexander was born and raised in Colorado. She witnessed firsthand the relocation of Focus on the Family, and its impact on the city. She graduated from a church sponsored Bible Institute, worked as a part time church secretary in her spare time, was a Sunday School teacherfor approximately eight years, and wrote for a monthly churchpublication. She left the movement, after a few decades of ardentinvolvement, over the position that women should stay with abusive husbands.

Four years, and over sixty reference books later (we aren't even touching onthe number of articles), she had systematically presented the Religious Rightagenda. @TTKDB 'Nuff said. Religion is what one makes it. It CAN be very good for some, or it can be BAD for all. It has caused wars and death at LEAST as much as it has done good. Read this book, people, and think about it when you vote next time. Believe what you want but don't forget that the PEOPLE within a religion are not always …. godly! If a religion becomes corrupt, it's because of the people USING it, unless it's a corrupt religion to begin with.
