What does the ideal society look like ?
in Politics

If you take all your values and look for a place that represents them , ideally where would you end up and why? https://www.forbes.com/sites/duncanmadden/2018/03/27/ranked-the-10-happiest-countries-in-the-world-in-2018/#72f9f31c73e9  A mighty leap over its Scandinavian neighbours from fifth to first, Finland’s 5.5 million residents enjoy more forest per square mile than any European country, extremely high environmental standards, and a very low threat level making it one of the most peaceful places on Earth. With a high ratio of immigrants now also calling Finland home, the World Happiness Report made particular mention of the consistency in happiness between them and local born residents.Related image

  • Among the currently existing societies, only the American and Swiss societies are strongly appealing to me - but compared to the ideal society, even they do not deserve much credit.

The ideal society for me would be a lack of society. It would be fully self-reliant individuals who do not form any sort of a default organised structure. Something like many sci-fi authors' vision of the future where every man has his own spaceship, can land on any planet, mine it for resources and build a new civilisation.
As a kid, I loved Star Wars movies, where Han Solo was absolutely free, with a ship that could fly anywhere he wants. This is close to my vision of ideal style of living.

Every time I do a cross-country road trip, where I drive wherever I please whenever I please and just explore the wilderness, I feel like I become 20 years younger. Being able to make a road trip into a permanent lifestyle, and having most other people do the same - that would be as close to heaven in my eyes as it could get.
