It now appears as if Power Rangers has similar aspirations as Haim Saban – the man behind the nineties Power Rangers series and a producer on the forthcoming reboot – has stated that a total of five sequels have been plotted out. According to Variety, Saban claims:

“We already have a six-movie story arc… If this film is as successful as I hope, on March 24, on March 25 we’ll have the first story meeting for Movie No. 2.”

Because of the disappointing box office gross, I highly doubt it. And if they did do a sequel, who would watch it? Power Rangers has no audience anymore.

I feel like the Power Rangers Sequel have the same story plot where a team of superheroes combine their powers to save the world by destroying evil powers. If there was a longer and varying storyline, people would be more drawn in. For example, Harry Potter is all about good vs evil, defeating Lord Voldemort but the twists and unexpected turns keep the characters hooked. Each movie had a miniclimax that adds to the overall story. Another factor is the poor connection with the audience.  These Rangers are portrayed as courageous warriors fighting against fantasy forces of evil that we don't ever cross in the real world. There is already the Power Ranger episodes on top of various movies, so it's repetitive and overextended.
